Welcome to the Brown University Library Special Collections Request System.

The John Hay Library will close for Winter Break on December 22 at 5 p.m., reopening January 4, 2022. The Gildor Family Special Collections Reading Room will have limited Winter Session hours between January 4 and 21. Email hay@brown.edu for an appointment. Building hours will be Monday – Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.

Reproduction requests by non-Brown researchers submitted after December 22, 2021, will need to be resubmitted in February.

Researchers are required to create an account in order to make requests to view materials in the John Hay Library Special Collections Reading Room or to request digital images. All requests for special collections materials are made through Aeon, Brown University Library Special Collections Request System. This system replaces the paper paging slips.

Access to some Special Collections requires advance notice, so please make arrangements ahead of your visit, especially, if you traveling from a distance to do your research.

Submitting requests does not guarantee availability of item or seating in reading room.
