Welcome to the Brown University Library Special Collections Request System.

Researchers are required to create an Aeon account in order to request materials to view in the John Hay Library Special Collections Reading Room or to request digital images.

The Gildor Family Special Collections Reading Room is open to researchers and the Brown community. Research visits are available on an appointment-only basis Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. See Library hours for additional information.

Request materials and an appointment at least 1 week in advance of your visit. Please request materials in Aeon and email hay@brown.edu for an appointment. To ensure proper social distancing, we are currently limiting the Special Collections Reading Room to a maximum of nine (9) researchers per day. Please review Visiting for information about reading room regulations.

With this system you can:

Before registering, you may wish to read the Aeon FAQ. The FAQ may answer other questions you have about the Aeon Special Collections Management System.

Access to some Special Collections requires advance notice, so please make arrangements ahead of your visit, especially, if you traveling from a distance to do your research.
