Welcome to the Brown University Library Special Collections Request System.
Onsite research is limited to Brown University faculty and students. Research visits are available on an appointment-only basis Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Request materials and an appointment at least 1 week in advance of your visit.
To ensure proper social distancing, we are currently limiting the Special Collections Reading Room to a maximum of nine (9) researchers per day.
Researchers are required to create an account in order to make requests to view materials in the John Hay Library Special Collections Reading Room or to request digital images. All requests for special collections materials are made through Aeon, Brown University Library Special Collections Request System. This system replaces the paper paging slips.
With this system you can:
To create your account, please select on the appropriate logon button to the right and complete the online registration form. You may also create a Brown University Library Special Collections Aeon account upon arrival at the John Hay Library.

Access to some Special Collections requires advance notice, so please make arrangements ahead of your visit, especially, if you traveling from a distance to do your research.
Submitting requests does not guarantee availability of item or seating in reading room.
